Tens of thousands of people from Malaga were in Rome this weekend to witness the procession of two images from Andalucía to mark the Jubilee of Confraternities. Chosen to be carried through the city in a grand procession were the much-loved Christ figure known as El Cachorro from Seville and the Virgen de la Esperanza, an iconic image from Malaga.
The procession involved hundreds of members of the two brotherhoods who accompanied their much-loved Christ and Virgin Mary through the streets. The highlight and most photographed moments of the procession was when the figures passed Rome's Colosseum.
After being shipped back to Malaga, the image of the Virgin will be on display in Malaga Cathedral for two days before returning the church in El Perchel on Saturday.
