Many of the most successful business ventures are those that meet specific market needs. These are initiatives that seek strategic partnerships to offer a level of service that stands out from the competition. They often play a vital role in more complex business systems, ultimately ensuring their own success and contributing significantly to the overall health and prosperity of the business landscape.
This thriving niche is the focus of what are known as ancillary services - highly specialised areas that support other businesses. It’s a broad and diverse sector encompassing all kinds of commercial activity, and it has continually evolved in recent years, riding the wave of unstoppable technological innovation.
In just a short time, companies in the province of Malaga offering ancillary services have moved beyond basic operations like access control, corporate cleaning and hygiene, or infrastructure maintenance. They now also provide advanced solutions, including electronic security consulting and quality verification reporting.
In the beauty sector in particular, these new auxiliary services have flourished. Highly specialised professionals bring added value to other businesses, which benefit from being able to offer a broader and more diverse range of products.
The ancillary services sector also plays a key social role; several non-profit organisations have recognised its potential to support the inclusion of vulnerable groups in the job market, such as people with intellectual disabilities or mental health conditions. The province of Malaga is home to a national benchmark in this area: Aspromanis Servicios, which this year celebrates its 15th year “committed to people and their abilities”.
All of this has contributed to ancillary services becoming a sector of particular importance within Malaga’s productive economy. According to the latest data from Social Security and the Andalusian Institute of Statistics (IECA), the province is now home to a total of 3,624 companies operating in this field.
Ancillary services are also a powerful engine for job creation, offering a gateway to paid employment for many people thanks to the wide range of activities involved and the sector’s adaptability and flexibility. In fact, in February alone, the sector generated 800 new jobs in the province.
Quietly but steadily, some of the companies creating the most jobs in Malaga belong to this sector. Their commercial success is often built on their keen sense of what other businesses need to streamline operations and continue growing. Without doubt, this is a sector that adds real value and energy to the business landscape of the province.
